Frequently Asked Questions
No, we are unable to take reservations
We welcome groups on a first come, first serve basis, and will seat you when your whole group has arrived.
Absolutely! Your kids will love the taproom environment and watching the pizza crew do their thing. We only ask that you keep an eye on your children and do not let them go outside without adult supervision. We have experienced a lot of damage due to rambunctious youngsters and the property does drop steeply into the Rock River.
We love dogs, we are dog people. Todd has raised and trained working dogs, was a police dog handler for eight years, and supervised the RPD canine unit for three years after that but, only certified service animals are allowed on HCB property.
Phone orders are taken, if we are not too busy, Thursday and Friday 11am-4pm.
Yes! You can order carryout in the taproom from the bartender.
One of our pet-peeves is waiting for assistance in a business while the clerk/server/receptionist deals with phone calls. Our priority is the guest in front of us. If we are able, someone will gladly answer your call. If we are busy, there’s a good chance we will not answer. We don’t mean to be rude or dismissive but give priority to guests who come to visit us at HCB.
HCB is a smoke and vape-free campus. Neither are allowed on the deck or in the beer garden. If you must smoke, there is a smoking pole near the bike rack out front.
Unfortunately, we do not have a separate private event space. We do not rent any part of HCB on days we are open to the public, currently Thursday through Sunday. Many of our guests drive several miles to visit and would be disappointed if they arrived to find us closed for a private event. Occasionally we will host special event on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, but we have guidelines, primarily, is the opening and staffing financially justifiable for HCB and our crew.
There is no way for us to know how long each guest plans to stay. It is likely that, if you call and ask, the wait time will change by the time you arrive. We do our best to accommodate all guests in a timely manner. You are welcome to order a drink and appetizer at the bar while you wait for your table. Weather permitting, the beer garden is available while you wait.
Yes you may. We serve a variety of house made cheesecake, but you are welcome to bring your own cake, cupcakes, etc. We will gladly keep your treats refrigerated until you are ready for them.
